Desde 1901, han recibido el Premio Nobel de Fisiología o Medicina 204 científicos. Los tres últimos se han anunciado esta misma mañana, James E. Rothman (Univ. Yale, New Haven, Connecticut, EEUU), Randy W. Schekman (Univ. California, Berkeley, California, EEUU) y Thomas C. Südhof (Univ. Stanford, Palo Alto, California, EEUU). Su trabajo ha ayudado a entender la regulación del transporte de sustancias en vesículas entre los diferentes orgánulos de las células eucariotas.
